"Ministry," meeting the needs of the hurting and vulnerable, is central to the mission of our congregation. In the United States we are involved in pastoral and spiritual ministry, healthcare, social outreach, and direct services to the poor and homeless. Prayer, contemplation and community are central to our lives. Below you will find information on our Sponsored Ministries and learn how you can help too!

Franciscan Sisters of the Poor Foundation, Inc.

The Franciscan Sisters of the Poor Foundation is committed to serving the homeless, children and families, the hungry, and caring for the Earth. The Foundation raises funds to financially support the multitude of programs and services the Franciscan Sisters of the Poor have established throughout four main geographical locations—Brazil, Italy, the Philippines, Senegal and the United States. 100% of all contributions are used directly to support the work of the Sisters. 0% goes toward salaries and overhead.

Park Slope Christian Help (CHIPS) &
Frances Residency Program

Park SlopeChristian Help provides a soup kitchen, clothing distribution center and food pantry. At Frances Residency we house homeless mothers and their infants while they particpate in parenting programs.

Franciscan for the Poor Volunteer Program, Inc

Franciscans for the Poor offers opportunities for groups to volunteer among the poor. Participation in this program can be a life changing experience. Along with the volunteer experience, you will also have an opportunity to live in community in the spirit of St. Francis of Assisi and Blessed Frances Schervier.

Franciscans Haircuts from the Heart, Cincinnati, OH

At Franciscan Haircuts From the Heart, the poor and homeless are welcome. Haircuts and styling are given to foster a sense of self-esteem among those in need of healing. Many who come for this service are then able to interview and find work.

Our Lady of the Woods, Inc.

Our Lady of the Woods is a Senior Independent Living Community with a commitment to providing a progressive and healthy environment which promotes self-determination, independence and dignity for the low-income elderly.
